#1 is not really true- some breeds of larger dogs, if they are very comfortable in their surroundings and trusting of those around them will sleep on their backs. I've witnessed this with my own mutt and a friend's german shepherd. It's pretty damn adorable seeing their paws up in the air and their legs spread to expose their soft tummys!!! =D
I've actually seen that too.
