Huh? Cinema
I like movies and I like just about every cinema genre out there. I am a girly girl who can quote practically all of Steel Magnolias but I also happen to think Hoosiers is a great movie. There are some movies I can't seem to plug myself into. I have tried. Some of these movies are on my shelf at home. Jay-bee is a fan of some. I have watched some of them several times in an effort to get it. Here is my list of
5 Movies I Don't Get
1) Fight Club- too violent? too testosterone driven? I like David Fincher and Brad Pitt. This is one of those movies of "my generation" and I just couldn't get into it.
2) Tomb Raider- I just thought this was boring from beginning to end. Yet when I saw it at the movie theater it was packed. The box office take was huge. This movie made me feel removed from mainstream culture and I am ok with that if this is what mainstream culture has to offer.
3) Boiler Room- another guy movie that I own and just can not get excited about to save my life.
4) Titanic- even Kate Winslet can't save this bloated piece of crap. Ugh and that awful Celine Dion song.
5) Meet The Parents/ Fockers- in idiot making the same idiotic mistakes and accidents over and over again just isn't funny to me. However, Ben Stiller is laughing all the way to the bank I am sure.

I agree with you wholly on #5. It was too slapsticky and stupid for me. But I disagree with you on #1. Fightclub is the greatest movie of all time ever ever.
I know, I have hordes of friends who think Fight Club is AWESOME. I am just missing that "chip" I guess.
Tomb Raider did blow, but Fight Club and Boiler Room were great. Definite guy movies.
Meet the Parents is just painful for me to watch- you just see it coming over and over and over again, and your sympathy with the character tends to make you resent the filmmakers for putting him through round after round of horrible situations. I guess that's the problem with a film like that- thinking about the filmaker's choices rather than being so enrapt in the story...
What about Fight Club didn't you get/like? I don't think it's a guy movie at all- I LOVED it. It's pulp, it's sex, it's rebellion, it's adrenaline... I get excited just thinking about it. And the book is incredible too-- totally different ending though. My best Halloween costume ever was being Marla to my boi's Tyler Durden. KICK ASS! ;D
I totally agree with you on all the others though. I mean, the history and production values of Titanic were great, but I though Leo and Kate had NO CHEMISTRY AT ALL. He was a skinny little boy and she was a WOMAN= bad match. And Boiler Room is certainly no masterpiece, but I've seen it a million times because a.) I think Giovanni Ribisi is incredibly talented and b.) I think Vin Diesel is awesome: so tough, great voice, and yet you know underneath he's a big softy ;)
